The Smart Floor consists of a super-thin (< 0,2 mm) sensor foil (plastic foil with RF antennas) that is placed under the entire floor of a nursing home, rehabilitation centre, private home, gym, sports field, a wearable (portable) sensor on the shoe or ankle, and an associated Smart Floor software application , which provides visualization and quantitative movement information (position, orientation, velocity and acceleration of the feet and body). For this, an internet gateway is provided to transmit data to a central database. This application is developed to work on smartphone, tablet, laptop and desktop PC. The Smart Floor is able to identify persons by means of the wearable sensor.
Measured parameters and derived information:
- Position, speed, acceleration, orientation, covered distance
- Fall prediction and fall detection
- Life style monitoring
- Assisting the rehabilitation process
- Sports monitoring
- Continuous walking and running analysis
- Load and fatigue
- Jumping height and jumping distance
Nursing homes, private homes of elderly, rehabilitation and physiotherapy centers
Connective Floors delivers software applications for healthcare based upon movement analysis. Our first application “Fall Risk Profile” has been validated by healthcare professionals. The second application “Fall Alarm” will be validated in Q2 2020. Our newest applications, “Dementia Diagnose Assistant, Geriatric Rehabilitation Assistant and Connection with Home Automation” will be developed and validated in 2020 and 2021 in close cooperation with several Dutch healthcare centers.
Our primary short-term healthcare focus markets are the 2,723 (2018) existing healthcare/nursing centers in the Netherlands and the new to be build healthcare/nursing centers in the Netherlands. Our second market are private homes for elderly people in the Netherlands. After achieving success in the Netherlands, we will extend the sales of our Healthcare Applications within the EU. To obtain Smart Floor data, the Smart Floor sensor foil must be installed at healthcare centers and private homes. Elderly wear a wearable sensor at foot/ankle level. Wi-Fi transfers data from the sensor to our secured cloud environment. With our Smart Floor applications, data is translated into information which is accessible by web or mobile devices. The Smart Floor foil is a one-off investment. The wearable sensor + software application, can be obtained by buying an annual license (= wearable + software per year).
Indoor and outdoor sport centers
Smart Floor can be installed when indoor gymnasiums are renovated or new sport facilities are build. Our Smart Floor is installed underneath the indoor upper flooring. For indoor sport centers, local council facilities managers are being required to add more value to their customers. This added value consists of things such as providing sporting clients with their own performance data. These clients (athletes, trainers, coaches) use the data for social media, improving performance, prevention of muscular – skeletal injuries, etc. The Smart Floor Sport Application (validation in 2020) delivers precise data that the athlete, trainer and/or coach is looking for: distance travelled, speed and acceleration info, as well as contact time of feet. This data is translated via smart algorithms and provide information for trainers/coaches about a sport-specific condition (and whether or not there has been any progress) or fatigue, which is important information for preventing muscular-skeletal injuries. Currently, this data and information is not supplied by the sports facilities; at most, a video is available after the training is complete. Also for sports the Smart Floor foil is a one-off investment. The wearable sensor + software application, can be obtained by buying an annual license (= wearable + software per year).
